Royal Wedding Hat Inspiration. Style Icon: Isabella Blow

With everyone glued to the royal wedding on the television this morning. While waiting to see what the bride herself will be wearing, we are all watching the guests getting seated and ready for the service. Twitter feed is filled with the fashion world tweating about the guests outfits, mainly about hats - a pink cowboy one has been spotted and several Philip Treacy's. We thought we'd take a look at a lady who was renowned for her hat wearing, Isabella Blow.

All Eyes Are On The Bride

With the royal wedding this weekend we are all very excited. Not only about the extra long bank holiday weekend (although this in itself is something to celebrate) but also about what Kate is going to wear. With the fashion world going mad with rumours of, who is designing it..? What shape it will be..? We look back on some of our favourite brides and hope Kate doesn't let us down in the style stakes!

We Love Long Weekends

The mood in Manchester is a good one. The sun is shining and most of us have two extra long weekends to enjoy! The streets are filled with girls in tea dresses and boys in breton stripes relaxing in the heat! So whether you're staying in the city or having a weekend break - enjoy!

Style Icon: Twiggy

A style icon of the 1960's and people are still copying Twiggy's hairstyle and makeup. Claiming her as our style icon makes it acceptable to match our brightly coloured tights with our brightly coloured Mary Quant dress and this is why we love her.
Forget Marks & Spencers sensible Twiggy, we love Twiggy sixties style - pass us our Mary Janes!

Dancing Shoes

All of us at Vintage Threads love to dance, whether its to dance a swing like Ginger Rogers or boogie on down like John Travolta, after a few drinks I think most of us are keen movers on the dance floor. The good think about vintage shoes is that generally the heels aren't that ridiculously high so they are much more suitable for dancing!

Style Icon: Jamie Hince

Well, if he's cool enough for Kate Moss to marry then he is cool enough for us! He can't go wrong when he is mainly sporting skinny jeans, boots and a leather jacket. We love how he wears Breton stripes with blazers. He also wears great cravat like scarves. We think he would love a days shopping at Vintage Threads!

Style Icons : The Broken Hearts

We love these super style aware, vintage loving, London based DJ's. Nisha and Amber play dance-to music, wear great clothes and write a blog . They are favourites of the fashion world, are featured in this weeks Grazia and have been featured in Stella magazine. Just our sort of style icons!

The Cravat

As I have posted about silk scarves for women which we sell in huge numbers at the fair I thought I should post about the cravat which is like the mens equivalent. They are becoming more and more popular in Manchester and we usually have quite a few for sale Vintage Threads. A cravat is a small purchase that can make an outfit, whether you wear one with a shirt and jacket and look super sophisticated like Clarke Gable or tie one loosely round your neck in a scruffier style like Pete Doherty.

Head Scarf Glamour

At every Vintage Thread's fair there are baskets filled up with different scarves in a variety of colours and styles. Nowadays most of us tie them around our necks in a bow, similar to the girls from Greece.

We think people should be more adventurous and wear them the old fashioned way, around their head with a knot under their neck, like the Queen. As much as people may not want to have the Royal family as their style icons, this classic look will always look chic and stylish. If it was good enough for Audrey, it is good enough for us. Plus, it's perfect for the slightly cold yet sunny weather of Spring.
