Happy New Year!

Wishing all our Vintage Threads shoppers a wonderful new year and lots of fun while seeing it in. We are looking forward to Vintage Threads carrying on in 2011 with style. If anyone has worn any Vintage Thread items for their new years eve festivities please either twitpic them to us or email them to our facebook, we would love to see them! I hear that Noho has a Harlem Speakeasy themed night - guessing there are going to be some cute outfits there!
See you all in 2011!

Vintage Wearing Style Icons

Here are some of our favourite vintage wearing celebs from 2010. Proving that no matter how big the wardrobe budget vintage can often outshine new!

Lilly Allen often hits the red carpet in vintage and she looks even more glam since she ditched the trainers.
George Lamb, loved by both men and women alike.
Diane Kruger in Vintage Haute Couture Chanel at Cannes.
Florence Welch is always stylish and wears vintage both onstage and off.
It has been a huge year for stylish Manchester based band Hurts.
Manchester born model Karen Elson took to music this year but kept to her quirky vintage wearing style.
The ever stylish Chloe Sevigny often wears vintage whether on the red carpet or on a shopping trip.
Jamie Hince, if he's cool enough for Kate Moss he's cool enough for us. (We had lots of trunks similar to this one at our Christmas fair)
Mary-Kate and Ashley, always glamorous and unique.
Alexa Chung winner of countless style awards in 2010. (We had some Barbour jackets similar to this at Vintage Threads a few months back.)

Christmas Memories

We hope that most of you are still on your Christmas holidays and aren't feeling too ill after over indulging on food and wine! Here are some of our favourite Christmas Vintage Threads pictures!

Santa and his elf singing Elvis songs in The Triangle at our Christmas fair. I have to say this may have been the highlight of the Christmas market for me! I just wish I'd been able to film it!

Festive knitwear! This Jenny and Amber one was particularly cheery with the sequin detailing!

Festive footwear! Perfect for rockin' around the Christmas tree!
What all you boys could have bought your girlfriends and earned lots of brownie points.

All the cute and cheap extras that made great stocking fillers!

A change from Ikea

Most of us like to add a little bit of individuality to our homes and as cheap and tempting as Swedish flat packed furniture may seem, sometimes it is nicer to have other pieces around the house to make it a home.

At last months Vintage Threads there were loads of pieces, from original swedish foosball tables to rocking bulls that would cheer up anyones front room.

Style Icon, Bianca Jagger

Muse to Roy Halston and Yves Saint Laurent, political activist, one time wife to Mick Jagger and a regular at Studio 54, Bianca’s look defined the 70's. She became known for her maxi dresses and jumpsuits as well as stylishly wearing menswear seperates. The Halston jumpsuits and hooded grecian style dresses have become an inspiration to many current designers. Her most famous outfit is probably the Yves Saint Laurent trouser suit she wore to her wedding where she managed to outshine the very charismatic groom Mick Jagger.

So for next months Vintage Threads we should definitely add jumpsuits, maxi dresses and bangles to our shopping lists!

Christmas Party

It's the Manchester Fashion Network Christmas party tonight and the Vintage Threads Christmas party this weekend. What will everyone be wearing??

Will they go for brocade?

Or for a classic yet alternative look with tweed?

Will they go for an 80's themed jumpsuit?

Or be really festive and go for a Christmas themed sweater?

Or what about a Courtney Love style 'glamour goth' little velvet dress?

Travel Stylishly!

When taking a weekend break our well thought out outfits can be ruined by a plastic trundle chugging behind us. At last weeks vintage fair there were some much better luggage options to choose from. There were lots of weekend bags and although they didn't have wheels for ease they were definitely going to compliment any vintage or vintage inspired outfit.

Not only are they cute to take on your trips away but they also are great for storage when neatly piled at the end of the bed or in the corner of the front room hiding all unsightly bits and pieces. They are also much cuter and more individual than Swedish flat packed furniture.

70's style

Chanel Cruise Collection 2011

At last weekends vintage fair there were plenty of seventies sheepskin coats to get us through Manchester's cold winter. A key trend for the season, these were being snapped up by everyone looking for an original. If you got there early enough you may have got your hands on a nice one but if not the other option was to channel The Rolling Stones and their girlfriends and get a seventies style fur.

Not only was there great outerwear from the era but there were also some great seventies style dresses that would bring us through to the summer months. From the look of the Spring/Summer shows they are going to be bang on trend.
