For a cosy evening in we recommend a night with a Marilyn Monroe box set - We love the glamour. Fifties style dresses and blouses look fabulous on curves, which Marilyn was famous for. These films will inspire men to swap their jeans for a suit and women want to pull on their furs and pearls.

Style in Manchester
Wandering through the Northern Quarter yesterday I spotted this man! The weather was bright and sunny as were his clothes. I know his style would be frowned at by some but I loved how brave the outfit was. He was definitely rocking some original 60's clothes. I love the accessories, the sunglasses and bag are great. He also had an amazing umbrella (just in case the weather changed) which you can't really see here but it was equally as authentic and unique as the rest of his outfit.
At Vintage Threads we love people who are brave enough to stand out from the crowd!

Summer is on its way
Has anyone else noticed and got completely overexcited by the glimpses of sunshine we have had in Manchester over the last few days. It is raining as I type but this morning it definitely felt like Spring.
I have begun to get excited with thoughts of summer evenings, barbeques, festivals and beer gardens. Most fashionistas are planning their holiday outfits and doing some half hearted dieting, hoping they will look as good as Alexa Chung does in a tea dress and wellington boots.
At the last Vintage Thread's fair there was a noticeable change in product. There were still a few furs and capes on the rails (lets face it they are needed here all year round) but there were also some gorgeous print dresses, denim hotpants and sunglasses. I am looking forward to seeing what summery items will be at April's fair. I'm hoping for some straw hats.

Shower your friends with gifts!
Some of the most popular things at Vintage Threads are the little bits and pieces that people buy as presents. Every fair there is a selection of kitsch cards, cute jewellery, household accessories and other random girly things. It's perfect for guilt free shopping; buying a present is always allowed. Some personal favourites of mine were the deer printed cushions and skull necklaces - hint, hint!

Style Icon, Karen Elson
This Oldham born and breed model/singer has a passion for vintage clothes. She is so passionate that she has opened her own vintage clothes shop, Venus and Mars, in Tennessee.
We admire her quirky and feminine style. Her floating dresses and unique head pieces make her look so much more exciting than most other off duty models.
More than anything we love her on stage look. Style.com quoted her saying all 'All of my stage clothes are vintage. They're all Southern gothic sort of gowns and country-esque outfits."
She is just our kind of girl and we are proud to be able to say that she's from Manchester!

Tomorrow's Fair!
.
It only seems like yesterday that I was sneaking shopping bags into the house after the last Vintage Fair but tomorrow it's our March fair! Yey! All the regulars are deciding what they need, although everything is such good value we always come home with something extra. I know that my boyfriend has an Aquascutum jacket on the top of his wish list. As summer holidays are being planned I am hoping there is going to be a large selection of summer dresses and sunglasses.
The fair will be held tomorrow (Saturday) in the Triangle in Exchange Square Manchester from 11a.m. to 6p.m.

Style Icon: Mick Jagger
We have blogged about his stylish ex's, Marianne Faithfull and Bianca Jagger so I think it was about time that we blogged about the man himself! He is one of Britain's favourite style icons, the ultimate king of cool with charisma and style that makes women swoon! We love how he rocks the skinny jean (copied my many men in the Northern Quarter) almost as much as we love his music. His look is brave, androgynous, hippy meets preppy.
At Vintage Threads there are always sheepskin jackets for sale and there there are never ending baskets full of scarves, which help to make the look a cheap and easy one to recreate! I don't think many of our male Vintage Thread's shoppers could deny being inspired by his style, and it's not only men who are influenced by the king of cool, we often see girls in skinny jeans, blouses and neck scarves.
