Head Scarf Glamour

At every Vintage Thread's fair there are baskets filled up with different scarves in a variety of colours and styles. Nowadays most of us tie them around our necks in a bow, similar to the girls from Greece.

We think people should be more adventurous and wear them the old fashioned way, around their head with a knot under their neck, like the Queen. As much as people may not want to have the Royal family as their style icons, this classic look will always look chic and stylish. If it was good enough for Audrey, it is good enough for us. Plus, it's perfect for the slightly cold yet sunny weather of Spring.

Style Icon: Marilyn Monroe

For a cosy evening in we recommend a night with a Marilyn Monroe box set - We love the glamour. Fifties style dresses and blouses look fabulous on curves, which Marilyn was famous for. These films will inspire men to swap their jeans for a suit and women want to pull on their furs and pearls.

Style in Manchester

Wandering through the Northern Quarter yesterday I spotted this man! The weather was bright and sunny as were his clothes. I know his style would be frowned at by some but I loved how brave the outfit was. He was definitely rocking some original 60's clothes. I love the accessories, the sunglasses and bag are great. He also had an amazing umbrella (just in case the weather changed) which you can't really see here but it was equally as authentic and unique as the rest of his outfit.

We love Manchester band Hurts. Not only are all the girls in the office swooning over their good looks, they are great fashion inspiration for the boys. They show how men can wear vintage and look sophisticated.

Summer is on its way

Has anyone else noticed and got completely overexcited by the glimpses of sunshine we have had in Manchester over the last few days. It is raining as I type but this morning it definitely felt like Spring.

I have begun to get excited with thoughts of summer evenings, barbeques, festivals and beer gardens. Most fashionistas are planning their holiday outfits and doing some half hearted dieting, hoping they will look as good as Alexa Chung does in a tea dress and wellington boots.

At the last Vintage Thread's fair there was a noticeable change in product. There were still a few furs and capes on the rails (lets face it they are needed here all year round) but there were also some gorgeous print dresses, denim hotpants and sunglasses. I am looking forward to seeing what summery items will be at April's fair. I'm hoping for some straw hats.
